SALUTATIO AT THE HOUSE OF PANSA |
In the center of the atrium stands the massive impluvium, which is approximately 15 feet across. It is used to collect rainwater, which runs into a basin under the floor, and which can be tapped using the cistern, visible in the picture's foreground. Behind the impluvium stands a marble table, which might have been used for washing clothes, or for similar chores.
